Cubs 2023 Tickets Guide

Updated 3/18/2024 / First Published 2/15/2023
2023 Chicago Cubs Tickets

Cubs fans did not have many expectations heading into the 2022 season after the team was stripped of its star players the year before in an effort to rebuild. Despite a roster that was unrecognizable, tickets to see the Cubs play at Wrigley Field reached as high as 4th most expensive among MLB teams on RateYourSeats.com.

The season went about as expected as they finished with a record of 74-88 and in third place in the National League Central division. Although the team finished with a losing record, there were encouraging signs for fans as they look forward to the Chicago Cubs 2023 season.

In the second half of 2022, the Cubbies finished with a record of 39-31 and won 16 of their final 22 games. Additionally, the front office had a strong offseason adding top free agents like Dansby Swanson, Cody Bellinger, and Jameson Taillon. Regardless of how the team plays, fans can expect 2023 Cubs tickets to continue to be among the most expensive in the league.

2023 Ticket Prices

After back-to-back losing seasons, Chicago Cubs season tickets are seeing a rare drop in price for 2023. On average, season ticket holders saw around 5% savings compared to the previous year.

While some of these savings may make it over to the secondary market, fans can still expect the Cubs to have one of the most expensive experiences in baseball.

One reason for this is that Wrigley Field draws fans to the game on its own with or without a good team on the field. In 2022, the Cubs were always in the top 10 most viewed tickets on RateYourSeats.com.

Cheap Cubs Tickets

When looking for the cheapest Cubs games of the year, the best bet is to look for the games in April and May. Of course, the reason for the tickets being so inexpensive is due to the seasonably cold temperatures in Chicago that time of year.

Weekday games also tend to see more of a price drop compared to the more popular weekend matchups. Of course, much of the pricing depends on the competitiveness of the team. If the Cubs are out of the playoff race by September tickets can often be found cheap as interest wanes.

Key Series in 2023

A new way of creating MLB schedules is bringing big changes to the Cubs' opponents in 2023. For the first time, every team will play each other in the same season giving fans more exposure to the teams, talent, and stadiums across the league.

This updated schedule brings a total of 22 of the 29 possible teams to Wrigley Field including several rare American League matchups.

Here are the hottest Cubs matchups and tickets for 2023:

Red Sox vs. Cubs - July 14-16

The team with the oldest park in baseball makes a visit to the second-oldest ballpark in baseball in the middle of July. The meeting of these two historic franchises during Chicago's warm summer months is certain to be a hot ticket.

Cardinals vs. Cubs - July 20-23

A downside of the new schedule is it brings less inter-division rivalry matchups like this one between the Cubs and Cardinals. This four-game series in July is the last meeting between these two rivals for the 2023 regular season.

White Sox vs Cubs - August 15-16

A matchup between the Cubs and White Sox always creates a buzz in Chicago. The games at Wrigley are happening in mid-August and both teams could be competing for a playoff spot which could amplify the intensity.

Royals vs. Cubs - August 18-20

Chicago is hosting its annual Air and Water show this weekend which marks the unofficial end of summer in the city. Catching a game at Wrigley during this time creates one of the most unique gameday experiences of the year with loud planes often flying by.

Best Ticket Options at Wrigley Field

Many Cubs fans will say the best tickets to a game at Wrigley are in the 1914 Club seats behind home plate. This experience does not come cheap with most games going for over $400 a ticket, but the benefits include all-inclusive amenities, comfortable seats, and club access.

The table below lists top ticket options with the lowest price for the rest of the season (as of Mar. 18, 2024) and a link to explore seats.

    Cheaper Options

Wrigley Field was built in 1914 and with that comes a much different stadium design compared to the modern stadiums we see today. For this reason, tickets with obstructed views are often among the cheapest. Located in the 200 and 400 levels of the stadium are poles that block the views to areas of the field.

Seating areas impacted include the Terrace Reserved 200-level sections and Upper Reserved 400-level sections.

    2023 Changes at Wrigley Field

Wrigley Field has undergone major renovations over the past decade to update the fan experience including the addition of exclusive clubs like the Catalina Club, W Club, 1914 Club, and more. 2023 will not bring many changes inside the stadium, but the right-field side of the stadium will feature a new sportsbook.

Best 2023 Cubs Giveaways & Promos

The Cubs have 54 different promotional events happening throughout home games this season. This includes themed Ballpark Celebrations with NASCAR and popular movies to name a few.

There are also a wide variety of giveaways including bobbleheads, hats, jerseys, and more. Most giveaways are to the first 10,000 fans.

Additionally, Sundays at Wrigley Field are for the kids where the first 1,000 kids get to run the bases after the game.
