Best Seats for Kids and Family

If you're bringing the family to Petco for a day of Padres baseball, one of the best options will be opting for the general admission area known as Park at the Park. Located behind center field, the views of the field are limited but thankfully they have a large screen which broadcasts all the action. Families can stretch out on a blanket in this grassy park style area, and if sitting here you are permitted to bring in your own food as long as it conforms with the Padres outside food policies (some of the prohibited items include hard sided containers, bags larger than 16" x 16" x 8", whole un-cut fruit). You'll be right by the whiffle ball field where the kids are welcome to play, Picnic Hill, the team bullpens in left center, and the Beach area which often has impressive sand castles on display. It is important to note that tickets are generally not available for purchase for the Park at the Park until 2 weeks prior to game day.

Another great place for a family at Petco Park is in the back rows of even numbered outfield sections 128-134 (left field). Should your little ones be hoping to bring home a souvenir, be sure to show up early as these seats are a hotspot for home run balls during pre-game batting practice. Opt for rows 6 and higher as you'll have better overhead coverage and protection from the sun during day games. Restrooms are close by (near sections 130 and 132), and you'll be right by the team bullpens for watching the pitchers warm up. These seats also keep you very close to all the great family friendly areas behind center field mentioned previously.

The one drawback to the seating areas we mention above is that you are further from the heart of the infield. Should you prefer a closer view of the pitchers mound and batters box, we recommend searching in rows 32 and higher in sections 113, 115, and 117. You will be further from all the fun in center, but from here your family will have very good views of the field which are close to the Padres dugout, and also provide excellent sight lines to the left field videoboard. The only lower level family restroom is just a short stroll away (near section 109), and you will be right by a number of food and beverage options, as well as multiple merchandise shops. Sitting higher (rows 32+) keeps you under cover of the seating deck above, and also limits the number of stairs you need to walk down to reach the seats (concourse entryways are located at the top of the section).

Rows 6 in Sections 128, 130, 132 and 134

  • Good spot for catching a home run ball souvenir
  • Under cover of the deck above for protection from the weather
  • Close to the open areas in Center Field (Park at the Park, the Beach)

Park at the Park

  • General admission lawn style area where you can stretch out with the family
  • Close to the kids baseball diamond in left center field
  • Views can be difficult, but a well placed videoboard behind center field keeps you in the loop

Rows 32-44 in Sections 113, 115 and 117

  • Near the Padres dugout on the first base side with excellent angle to the videoboard
  • Covered by the overhanging 200 level seating above
  • Great proximity to family restroom, merchandise shops, and large number of food and beverage options

Recommended Seats for Impressing a Guest

Sections 1, 2, 3 and 4

  • Amazing views from directly behind home plate
  • As close to the action as possible, feels like you are almost on the field
  • Exclusive amenities including all you can eat food and drink and access to a club lounge

To search tickets in these seats, select an event and apply the filter labeled Impressing a Guest.

Best Seats for Visiting Team Fans

Some of the best seats for a visiting team fan at Petco Park are found right by the visitors dugout down the third base line. Not only do you get impressive views of your favorite players as the take and leave the field, but you'll also be closer to the best concentration of away team fans during a Padres game. For the best alignment with the center of the dugout, opt for seats in rows 8-17 of section 108 which are right near the middle of the structure and within 10 rows (seats in row 8 will have their feet at the back of the dugout).

Section 110 also has a few seats which are directly behind the dugout on the right side of the section (seat numbers 1-3 in row 8), but the unique thing here is that the section has a number of options which will be even closer to the field. Rows 5-7 put you just beside the dugout for a one of a kind view of the players as they retreat back after a half inning out in the field playing defense. A ticket in seat 4 of rows 5-7 will have you right up against the side of the visiting team dugout.

Another option we recommend for visting team fans are sections 130-134 in right center field, especially if its your first time at Petco. From here you will be right next to the bullpens which are located on the center field side of section 134. These seats also keep you a short walk away from some of the more unique areas at the ballpark, including the Beach just beyond the center field wall, and the general admission Park at the Park lawn seating area. A bonus for the foodies out there is the excellent selection of local food and beverage options available near the left field corner.

Sections 108 and 110

  • As close as it gets to the visitors dugout at Petco
  • Amazing views of the infield
  • Good angle to the San Diego skyline in the backdrop of center field

Sections 130, 132 and 134

  • Close to the bullpens in left center
  • Short walk to the Beach and Park at the Park
  • Good concentration of unique food and beverage nearby

Best Seats for Great Views of the Field

Among the best options for watching a baseball game at Petco Park are sections 107-113 near the Padres dugout on the first base side, and sections 108-112 near the visitors dugout on the third base side. Home town fans sitting near the Padres dugout will want to be closer to the top of the section, where rows 32 through 40 provide good overhead coverage and protection from the sun, helping to keep you in your seat rather than cooling off in the concourse. Just be sure to avoid section 111, which has no overhanging seating deck above. You can worry less about the sun on the third base side as it will be at your back sooner, allowing you to enjoy great views in sections 108-112 with perfect height in rows 13-22 (top portion of the lower half).

Sitting behind home plate is always a great place to find top notch views for a baseball game, and sections 101-104 at Petco Park definitely fit the mold. These seats have amazing views of pitches off the mound, hits exploding off the bat, and also give you great sight lines to the on deck circles. Sandwiched between premium seating options above and below, these seats have ideal viewing height that allows you to see the outfield corners with ease (something which lower seats can struggle with).

Further from the infield on the lower tier, sections 120 and 122 offer very good views with a more affordable price tag in rows 20 and lower. These seats are angled very nicely at the heart of the infield, and will have clear views of just about every area other than the deep left field corner. Being on the left field line these seats will get the sun to your back sooner, while those seated down the right field line will be looking right into the bright San Diego sun during the later innings of a day game. These are also some of the only sections in foul territory that are clear of the protective netting down the left field line.

You generally don't think of seats beyond the outfield wall as being good areas to watch a ball game, but the front rows of sections 128 and 130 are surprisingly good options. Low and close to the field, you feel connected with the game while having a good seating position to the infield and sight lines to all parts of the warning track except for the near corner.

The second tier of seating (also known as the Toyota Terrace) is home to ideal viewing height, and for great views at a Padres game we recommend searching in sections 213-216. The seats are near the outer edges of the dugouts, giving you natural sight lines to the heart of the infield and the vast majority of the playing field. Just about every seating row is a winner here, and while fans on the first base side (sections 213 and 215) have a better view of the videoboard, they will also need to contend with the sun in their eyes longer. Pass on sections 211 and 212 as some of the closer seats to home plate will have an additional railing to look through at the side of the sections.

On the upper deck, you can find some unsung heroes when it comes to having a good view of a Padres baseball game. If you are looking to save on the price of your ticket, consider rows 1-6 in sections 316 and 318 down the third base line. These are in the smaller, lower portion of the sections helping you avoid some of the railing issues that are known to impede views in the higher seats above the entry tunnels. These seats have a great angle to the infield, and also keep you on the shadier side of the ballpark.

Rows 32-40 in Sections 107, 109 and 113

  • Located near the Padres dugout with excellent viewing to the infield
  • Covered seating close to the concourse entry tunnel
  • Good viewing angle to the videoboard above left field

Sections 108, 110 and 112

  • Great natural line of sight to the heart of the infield
  • Close to the field and visitors dugout
  • Excellent viewing height for watching a ball game

Sections 101, 102, 103 and 104

  • Desirable scout style views behind home plate
  • Straight away sight lines with angles to the outfield corners
  • Excellent views of home plate and the on deck circles

Rows 1-20 in Sections 120 and 122

  • Good angle on the seats, facing toward the back of the infield
  • More affordable lower level option
  • Won't have the sun in your eyes for the later innings

Sections 213, 214, 215 and 216

  • Perfect seating height on the second tier of Petco Park
  • Seats face the infield for easy, comfortable views

Rows 1-6 in Sections 128 and 130

  • Good viewing angle to the infield and the Padres dugout
  • Surprisingly close to the field for seating beyond the outfield wall

Rows 1-6 in Sections 316 and 318

  • Below the entry tunnels where you have less railings to look through
  • Angle of the seats points you toward the majority of the action on the infield
  • Won't be looking into the sun during the later innings of a day game
