The Cotton Bowl is one of the most iconic venues in college football. It has hosted a number of epic Red River Showdown games between Oklahoma and Texas, and still hosts the State Fair Classic and other events.
When purchasing tickets for the Texas/Oklahoma game, most fans prefer to sit with their fellow alum. Texas fans typically sit in sections 7-23 and 107-127, while OU fans sit on the opposite side. Those sitting at midfield will be right in the middle of the rivalry as the seating sections change from one school to the other.
Other Considerations
The Cotton Bowl is a fairly traditional stadium. It has a lower level, upper level, and a limited number of Club Seats on the west sideline.
Given a choice, most fans prefer to sit on the west side (sections 1-10, etc.) because those seats are shaded first and have the sun at their back.
To avoid obstructions, avoid row numbers above 50 in the lower level. Pillars hold up the upper deck and can block your view. For guests wanting to stay out of the sun, these upper rows do provide relief.
West Club seats at the Cotton Bowl are located high above the field beneath the stadium's Press Box. Sections 405-409 offer bird's eye views of the ga...
Home & Visitor Sideline For Football Games
Home Sideline - For most football games the home team sideline is in front of Section 5, Section 6 and Section 7
Seats with Backs - The following seats/locations offer chairback seating: West Club Seats are stadium-style chairs Rows 29-49 in Section 6 are chairback seatin...
Corner seating in the lower level gives impressive diagonal views of the field for fans seated in rows 20 and higher. Fans seated in lower rows may have difficulty seeing across the field, though the first row in Sections 12, 18, 30 and 36 are among the closest seats to the field in any football venue.
For the best experience, choose seats in Sections 18-20 or 10-12 to get a view of the scoreboard on the SE side of the stadium. Avoid seats in Sections 28-30 if you are sensitive to the sun.
Lower Level Endzone Seating
Endzone seats are not as close to the field as some of the seats in corner and sideline seating.
Sections 14-16 will have a head-on view of the main scoreboard, while Sections 32-34 are above or next to the main player tunnel.
Fans in Sections 31-35 will have to turn around to see the scoreboard.
Lower Level Sideline Seating
Sideline seating on the lower level is made up of the best seats at the Cotton Bowl. Sections 6 and 24 are directly at midfield and behind the player benches. The home team bench is on the SW side of the stadium behind sections 5-7, while the visiting team is on the opposite end of the field.
There are a limited number of chairback seats located in the middle rows of Section 6. To most, these are the best seats at the Cotton Bowl. They'll have the sun setting behind them, they'll have the luxury of a seatback and the view of the field can't be beat.
With the entrance to each section located at the top, fans sitting in the lower rows will have the longest walk to their seats. In some cases, this hike could be as many as 60 rows of stairs.
Upper Level Corner Seating
Corner seating in the upper level of the Cotton Bowl is one of the more inexpensive seating options. For the best corner seats, choose Sections 123-124 or 132-133. These sections are more narrow than other sections, which means there are fewer seats in each row and less walking over people to get in and out.
Avoid sections 132-135 altogether if you don't want to be in the sun, especially during afternoon games.
Upper Level Endzone Seating
Sit on the NW side of the upper level endzone seating (Sections 114-120) to get the best view of the scoreboard on the other side of the stadium. Additionally, these seats will have the sun behind them during late afternoon games.
The entrance for each section is located near Row 10, which means that fans seated in higher rows will have a bit of a hike to get up to their seats.
Upper Level Sideline Seating
Some of the best seats at Cotton Bowl Stadium are located in the lower rows of the upper level. These seats offer an unobstructed view of the entire field at an ideal height. Sections 105-107 and 127-129 will provide the best view from midfield.
The section entrance is located in the middle of each section, ensuring that fans don't have to walk up or down too many stairs to their seats.
