Camelback Ranch hosts spring training games for fans of the Dodgers and White Sox. Most of these games happen in the afternoon with an average temperature of 75-85 degrees. When purchasing spring training tickets, picking the correct side of the field may be the difference between a comfortable afternoon and a week-long sun-burn.
Best Seats For Staying Out of the Sun
If you are intent on staying in the shade, choose seats on the first-base side of Camelback Ranch. The stadium's roof/overhang was recently extended down the right-field line and most seats on this side will eventually be in the shade.
For the best sun protection, purchase tickets in rows 10 and above in sections 103-115. These seats are almost always in the shade and give you the best chance at staying cool.
On the third-base side, only the upper-most rows of sections 126-128 will be shaded for the duration of an afternoon game. Even seats under the overhang will be susceptible to the sun and its heat.
Most Heavily Exposed Seats
If you are sensitive to the sun, absolutely avoid Lawn Seats. With the exception of Patio Seats, these have zero protection.
Another area to completely avoid is sections 19-29. These are the most sun-drenched seats in the lower bowl and won't be out of the sun until at least early evening.
First Base Side (Sections 103–115)\r\n
For the best sun protection, choose seats on the first base side. The stadium's roof overhang extends down the right-field line, providing shade to many seats in these sections. Specifically, rows 10 and above in sections 103–115 are almost always in the shade, offering a cooler experience during afternoon games.
Third Base Side (Sections 126–128)
Shade is more limited on the third base side. Only the uppermost rows of these sections receive shade during afternoon games, making them less reliable for sun protection.
Lawn Seating
The outfield lawn areas are largely exposed to direct sunlight. However, during day games, fans can find some relief near left-center field, where trees provide intermittent shade.
